CHORISTER CORNER

Thank you to Adam for working so well with you for the past two weeks. It is wonderful to see the process from reading a story together to creating an Orff presentation. Please use your journals to record any ideas about the process, the music, or the presentation itself.

Next week is March Break - no rehearsal - see you on March 23rd.

On March 23rd, we will spend most of the time rehearsing for the Orff presentation on March 30th.

Have a wonderful break!

  1. Thank you to our resident composers Abie and Townsend for sharing their ideas about their wonderful compositions. Good work on following the music.

  2. It was wonderful to watch you work with Adam tonight. Adam will return each week until your presentation on March 23rd.

  3. From Adam: We spent time taking melodic ideas the singers had already created and adapting them into short songs.  We made excellent progress on our 'Tree' song, and with the woodcarver song.  Our time together was a good reminder that the creative process (especially when working as a group!) is truly a journey - it takes time and involves highs and lows, but when you stick with it, can result in the creation of something beautiful!  Singers are reminded to keep thinking about possible lyrics to finish the tree song as well as possible lyrics for the woodcarvers song.

  4. The journals I gave you are for your inspiration - jot down anything you think of about the tree song, the woodcutter, the villagers.... Also, use your journal to draw, write or doodle about what our theme of "Draw the Circle Wide" means to you. Please bring these each week.

  5. We didn't have a chance to sing these tonight but here is a link to Firefly - https://youtu.be/Dxd_4ENK_CM?si=mSnFvo-aV3OpEFjt and to A Better World https://youtu.be/dBblUBZr81w?si=p5LNkRCHlWQ1uvfH Open your music and follow along as you listen and sing these pieces. Remember to follow either the soprano or alto line.

  6. PLEASE DO YOUR THEORY!! This week many of you didn't do your one page of work. This is mandatory.

What a busy night!

  1. Thank you to the Board and to Rose for visiting our rehearsal. It was great to hear what the Board does for VIVA and the importance of the Inclusion team.

  2. Thank you to Rose for leading us in a great activity.

  3. Please continue doing your theory! You are all doing really well.

  4. We looked at two pieces - Firefly and A Better World. Refer to the previous Blogs for the links.

  5. We will be rehearsing both Abie's and Townsend's new choral pieces. I am looking forward to hearing them sung by you.

  6. Have a great week!
