Hi All -

Thank you for all you do as we make beautiful music together!

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday 31 January at Regis College (Queen's Park & Wellesley).

Black folders as always. Please look over all of your music for Friday. Chamber: especially Byrd.

Dress Rehearsal: 5:00PM

Concert: 7:30PM

Additional tickets at the door.

Kindly arrive in your blacks due to limited space for changing.

Food: Pizza at 6:30? Send Laura $5 per person to laurajane.menard@gmail.com by Thursday at 6.

More food: Meet us at Firkin on Bay post concert if you can. We would love to connect! 1075 Bay St; walking distance from Regis.

   1. reviewed with actions

   2. added solfege to descending scale line

6. Echo singing in solfege, focusing on mi re do patterns

7. Scales and Arpeggios song

   1. sang "Ode to Joy" section on solfege with hand signs

   2. learned descending scale line

8. Theory

   1. Reviewed quarter note, 8th note pairs --> connected it with "here coms a bluebird, in through my window"

   2. Learned quarter rest

   3. Rhythm sight reading with student creation component

9. I Can Sing a Rainbow

   1. moved (legato) to the music

   2. learned A Section; echo singing, then sang through

   3. listened to B Section (moving to music)

10. Orff with Adam

    1. reviewed previous material and added Humpty Dumpty

(I apologize for no post last week....the week got away from me.)

Welcome to Penelope and Elliott - 2 new choristers to the Junior Choir. You have joined a great group of talented and energetic singers.

This term we gear up to our 25th anniversary concert in June. Stay tuned for more information.

Repertoire so far: "Scales and Arpeggios", "Kuna Karamu".

Things to remember:

1. Please continue doing one page of theory a week. Ottley, Ariana and I will be early each week if you ever need help with your homework. Please ask questions.

2. "Scales and Arpeggios" - practice the solfa parts - remember to always use both hands.

3. Kuna Karamu - this is a celebration song - perfect for the 25th anniversary concert. It is in Swahili. We will add in movement and percussion instruments.

4. Thank you to Adam for coming in today and working on your Orff presentation that you will do in March. Adam will be back for other sessions with us in February.
